Description
The core of the knowledge and content of the study branch "Metallurgy" represents the latest knowledge from technical sciences related to the field of Extraction and processing of earth resources, primarily in the field of metal production and processing, foundry, heat treatment, energy metallurgical technology, refractory ceramics, processing and recycling of primary and secondary raw materials and waste and recovery of metals, materials and chemical substances by innovative progressive pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical procedures, monitoring and elimination of environmental pollution, identification, characterization, chemical and phase analyzes of metals, primary and secondary raw materials and waste, material engineering, construction of equipment and apparatus, in synergy with using knowledge from chemical engineering, analytical and physical chemistry, substance and heat transfer, energy, design and management of technological processes. Such a combination of scientific knowledge is the essential starting point for current research on current "high-tech" processes and green technologies, but also for the introduction of innovations based on cutting-edge research for modern production, mainly in the metallurgical, foundry, recycling and processing industries. Rigorous knowledge of processes and research results also results in the ability to design unconventional innovative and progressive technical and technological solutions, construction solutions of apparatus, machines and equipment of process technology with higher utility properties, enabling the production of new, hitherto unproduced products and designing so-called BAT technologies. Scientific research is primarily based on the use of scientific methods and analyses, formulating and verifying adequate scientific hypotheses, mathematical models and simulations, also from experimental data in synergy with the obtained theoretical knowledge, based on the investigation of technological, technical, structural, energetic, analytical, thermodynamic and kinetic aspects and material balances of the processes of production and processing of raw materials, materials and metals. Creative activity in the field is characterized by independent, critical and analytical thinking, its appropriate application in the current conditions of the field, characterized by a high degree of integrity of scientific research, interpretation and presentation of its results in the domestic and international community.
