Graduate profile
DescriptionThe Study program Theory and Design of Engineering Structures (SP TDES), the third degree of study, is focused on will gain new scientific knowledge leading to an understanding of the field of study. Graduates of SP TDES will master the scientific methods of theory and design of engineering and transport structures, as well as bearing structures of buildings with an emphasis on their actual material properties and elastoplastic behavior, environmental aspects and economic efficiency, based on the acquired knowledge of the current state of problem solving in our country and abroad. Graduate of the study program contributes to technical development and social progress, either in scientific research or professional practice.
Learning objectives
Graduates of the third degree of higher education in the study program Theory and Design of Engineering Structures (SP TDES) will gain new scientific knowledge leading to an understanding of the field of study. Graduates will master the scientific methods of theory and design of engineering and transport structures, as well as bearing structures of buildings with an emphasis on their actual material properties and elastoplastic behavior, environmental aspects and economic efficiency, based on the acquired knowledge of the current state of problem solving in our country and abroad. The graduate acquires the ability to clearly formulate a scientific problem, the subject and goal of research and development in the field of engineering and transport structures and building structures, to solve the formulated problem with an awareness of the social, ethical, legal and economic contexts of scientific work. Experimental research methods are part of his knowledge, he knows how to prepare and implement a scientific experiment in the laboratory and in situ, and he knows the methods of evaluating the obtained experimental results. The graduate is able to clearly formulate the contribution of research outputs to the development of the scientific field, study field and construction practice.
Main learning outcomes
Theoretical knowledge The graduate of the study program demonstrates a deep systematic understanding of theoretical knowledge from natural sciences and special technical disciplines focused on the chosen scientific orientation. Acquires the skills and methods of scientific research, uses scientific approach of investigation in order to help with his own contribution: - for the development of analysis, design, assessment, diagnostics and reconstruction of building structures of various types and purposes, including their foundation in real geological conditions, - for the development of traffic planning, design, construction and reconstruction of land communications and airports, modernization of railways and transport engineering, - to develop the design and reconstruction of geotechnical structures. Complementary knowledge, abilities and skills Graduate of the study program: - acquires scientific knowledge of a mathematical-physical nature, - acquires the methods and principles of scientific work, able to scientifically formulate and find solutions to problems, - is aware of and takes into account the ethical and social aspects of scientific work, technical and environmental aspects of new materials and technologies, as well as the link between research - development - production - use - recycling, - capable of independently solving research problems, cooperating with foreign countries and using world professional literature, - can present the results of his scientific work orally, in writing and using new electronic means, - contributes to technical development and social progress, either in scientific research or professional practice.

Spatial, material, and technical provision of the study programme and support
List and characteristics of the study programme classroomsAdequate spatial, material, technical, and informational resources are available to guarantee the quality of the study program Theory and Design of Engineering Structures (TDES) and to achieve the set goals and outcomes of education. Link to the virtual tour - the spatial and technical equipment of the faculty: https://svf.tuke.sk/wps/portal/svf/uchadzaci/prehliadka-fakulty Material and technical equipment of the Center for Research and Innovation in Construction (CVIS) laboratory can be glimpsed here: https://www.cvis.sk/ The list of auditoriums, classrooms, and laboratories is available at: https://at.tuke.sk (administration of classrooms and lecture rooms).
Characteristics of the information provision
For the study program TDES, the TUKE University Library enables access to study literature and information databases: http://www.lib.tuke.sk/ and the TUKE Digital University Library: http://www.lib.tuke.sk/Library/ Home/DigitalLibrary). Other necessary materials are provided directly by the teachers of the given subjects via the Moodle e-learning portal, which is also used to check students' knowledge and progress within the planned educational outcomes. Access to the necessary IT services is provided through the Institute of Computing Technology TUKE (https://uvt.tuke.sk/wps/portal/uv/software).
E-learning
Study materials are available at the Moodle e-learning portal, which is also used to check students' knowledge and progress within the planned educational outcomes. Lectures, exercises, or consultations take place via the CISCO Webex communication platform. For TUKE employees and students, access to these tools is free (https://uvt.tuke.sk/wps/portal/uv/sluzby/webex/prihlasenie-sa-do-webex, http://moodle.tuke.sk/ ).
