Description
A graduate of the bachelor's study program Design has knowledge of natural, social and technical disciplines and of the history of art and design. He understands the requirements for the creation of products of the material environment and visual communication from the point of view of utilitarian, aesthetic, ethical and ecological needs of man and society. He has the skills to create designer products for human needs, creating physical and virtual models. He will apply as an independent designer or as a team member in product development.
Learning objectives
A graduate of the bachelor's study program Design will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills, important for the designer creation of products of the material environment and visual communication, which are required for the performance of graduate work at the level of the 1st degree of study. These include knowledge from natural, technical and social science disciplines and from the history of art and design. Above all, it is knowledge in the field of ergonomics, classic and modern materials and technologies, from construction, from the theory and methodology of design work, from marketing and design management, from art geometry, presentation techniques and the use of computer support tools in design work. In addition to handling the user and aesthetic requirements of creating the environment in question, the goal of this is of education, the alignment of design work with cultural, ethical, socio-economic ones and environmental requirements of society, in the interest of the sustainable development of human life on Earth.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the bachelor's study program Design has the knowledge, skills and competences necessary to independent design work. He knows how to navigate artistic processes and theoretical starting points design work. He has knowledge in the field of art history, understands essential facts, concepts, principles and design theories. He can use the acquired knowledge in analysis, creation of design in a way that demonstrates understanding of context. Can use basic conceptual, categorical and methodological apparatus design. He is able to use and apply management skills, to keep in touch with the latest developments design, to continue their own professional development. He has the skills to create designer products and works of art for a wide range of economic, cultural and social life, creating material and virtual models. He can do it adequately in his work use techniques, technologies and materials / applies work with clay, plaster, wood, plastic and metal in the range of manual workshop skills, CNC and 3D printing. He is able to present his work with the use of proportionally correct realistic and designer drawing, also with the use of information technology. He is competent to respond creatively to stimuli and problems from various disciplines in the creation of design. Is a professionally prepared for the use of technical, technological, material, economic and ecological possibilities of the company in creating the design of 2D and 3D products. He is competent for knowing the context of your work, from the point of view of knowing the current state and development of design and society. Is a able to work independently or as a member of a creative team, formulate their opinions and express them professionally argue in a discussion.

List and characteristics of the study programme classrooms
For ŠP design, the TUKE Faculty of Arts has spaces for studio work, lectures, seminars and modeling at Watsonová ul. no. 4 (W4), at ul. University no. 4 (V4) and Nemcova no. 9 (N9). Design studios and auditoriums are equipped with projection technology. The capacity of the eight studios of the Department of Design, which are located on the 2nd floor of the W4 building, is 16 places each. The capacity of the Drawing Room is 30 places and it is located in building N9. Two auditoriums in building W4 are used for lectures at FU, namely the Small FU Auditorium (capacity 30 seats) and the Large FU Auditorium (capacity 60 seats). The Department of Design FU TUKE uses its own Model Workshops and CAD laboratory to process models in design work, where students work under the professional guidance of two modelers. Students have at their disposal basic modeling materials such as: clay, plaster, cardboard, cardboard, HPS, cork, wood, sheet metal and plastics. The modeling workshops are well equipped with the following machines and equipment: CNC machining equipment, mechanical scanner, cutting plotter, engraving machine, projector, laminating equipment, furnace for heating plastics, vacuum press, washing tubs for molds, manual lever shears, manual sheet metal circler, sheet metal bender, disc grinder, drill, welding machine, hand tools, hand milling machine, hot air devices, circular saw, hammer drill, planer, formatting saw, stand drill, belt sander, face sander, band saw, lathe, suction machine, polystyrene cutter, vices, work tables, shelves, handy storage for materials and tools. Characteristics of the information provision
Students of the bachelor's degree in design at FU TUKE have sufficient information security available for their studies, primarily through the TUKE University Library and the FU TUKE Faculty Library. Library services concentrated in the University Library (UK) of the Technical University in Košice include all activities from searching in the library fund to searching for information in the online catalog and available databases (WoS, Scopus, Springer Link, etc.) to making specific documents available in printed or electronic form in the UK TUKE fund (the total number of documents is 186,966, of which 64,228 books, 40,046 textbooks, 7,779 anthologies, 6,341 bound periodicals, 7,718 electronic documents, 31,846 final and qualifying theses).
