DescriptionGraduates of the Master's study program Design understand the principles of design creation, which they can apply from the perspective of design requirements. It emphasizes the innovative potential of the proposed product. He has design skills for creating 3D models and prototypes. He is competent to solve challenging design tasks, respond flexibly to customer requirements and present his opinions. He applies himself as an independent designer, or as the head of a creative design team, when solving tasks for practice.
Learning objectives
Graduates of the master's study program Design in the 2nd degree of study will develop their knowledge and skills acquired in the bachelor's study, which are necessary for analyzing and applying theoretical starting points for the design creation of innovative products and structures. Understands facts, concepts, principles and theories of design creation, he can analyze these from the point of view of concrete functional, social, economic and ecological requirements of the practice. He can evaluate these requirements and follow them as well apply to design proposals. He can analyze, generalize and apply knowledge also from social scientific disciplines related to the design study program, specifically the relations of ergonomics, aesthetics, ecology and from art, necessary to create complex design, to satisfy human needs and companies. The goal of education in the 2nd degree of design studies is to prepare a graduate who will be able by solving current design tasks to provide a more optimistic view of the future subject environment of a person.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the master's study program Design can apply the latest knowledge in the field of theory and design methodologies, ergonomics, ecology. He makes sure that the outputs of his creative conceptual designer creations in their realized form integrated high aesthetic (artistic) value, environmental friendliness and author's uniqueness. It emphasizes the innovative potential of the proposed product design, which ensure his competition's ability and understanding of the proposed product content with his potential users. He is capable of conceptual and coordination activity. Can understand, apply, analyze and propose design in areas defined by individual profiling studios, which contributes to a better quality of human life through innovative products, systems, services and environment. He has skills in the methodology of demanding design work and implementation techniques for creation physical and virtual design 3D models and prototypes. He is able to respond flexibly to customer requirements, present their opinions and opinions related to design issues, primarily with regard to aesthetic, semantic, ethical and sociocultural requirements. He is capable interpret and present your work using traditional and digital 2D and 3D presentations techniques and forms of interpretation in design. Is competent to creatively solve problems - design tasks in new or unfamiliar environments, in wider contexts beyond design and art. It is able, even with incomplete information, make ecologically and ethically responsible decisions in your own solution to the design of the assigned task. He is competent and able to keep in touch with design developments in the world, analyze and interpret design work in context. He has competence, comprehensive knowledge, skills, and high motivation in defending his creation, is socially and professionally able to clearly and unambiguously communicate it to investors and experts to the public. With his practical creative work in design, he can ensure the fulfillment of the mission of design as art department, both technologically and organizationally. Graduates of the study are prepared for design work, in which innovation, technology, research, business and customers in order to provide new value and competitive advantage in the economic, social and environmental areas. He will apply as an independent creative designer or head of creative of the design team, as a member of the development team for the design area, working on challenging innovative projects for companies, institutions and individual customers. He can act as a member of advisory boards teams for the field of design in business, state administration for the field of economy, education, living environment, culture but also in the third sector. After completing an additional pedagogical study, he can work as a teacher of professional subjects in primary and secondary schools.

Spatial, material, and technical provision of the study programme and support
List and characteristics of the study programme classroomsFor ŠP design, the TUKE Faculty of Arts has spaces for studio work, lectures, seminars and modeling at Watsonová ul. no. 4 (W4), at ul. University no. 4 (V4) and Nemcova no. 9 (N9). Design studios and auditoriums are equipped with projection technology. The capacity of the eight studios of the Department of Design, which are located on the 2nd floor of the W4 building, is 16 places each. The capacity of the Drawing Room is 30 places and it is located in building N9. Two auditoriums in building W4 are used for lectures at FU, namely the Small FU Auditorium (capacity 30 seats) and the Large FU Auditorium (capacity 60 seats). The Department of Design FU TUKE uses its own Model Workshops and CAD laboratory to process models in design work, where students work under the professional guidance of two modelers. Students have at their disposal basic modeling materials such as: clay, plaster, cardboard, cardboard, HPS, cork, wood, sheet metal and plastics. The modeling workshops are well equipped with the following machines and equipment: CNC machining equipment, mechanical scanner, cutting plotter, engraving machine, projector, laminating equipment, furnace for heating plastics, vacuum press, washing tubs for molds, manual lever shears, manual sheet metal circler, sheet metal bender, disc grinder, drill, welding machine, hand tools, hand milling machine, hot air devices, circular saw, hammer drill, planer, formatting saw, stand drill, belt sander, face sander, band saw, lathe, suction machine, polystyrene cutter, vices, work tables, shelves, handy storage for materials and tools. Characteristics of the information provision
Students of the master's degree in design at FU TUKE have sufficient information security available for their studies, primarily through the TUKE University Library and the FU TUKE Faculty Library. They have access to the necessary databases on the Internet, the availability of basic study literature, textbooks, monographs, foreign and domestic professional journals in the mentioned libraries and suitable software equipment.
