Graduate profile
DescriptionStudy program Structural and Transport Engineering (SP STE), first degree of study, is focused on education in the field of load-bearing systems of civil engineering, traffic structures and simple engineering structures. The graduate SP STE will be prepared for studies at the second degree of higher education in the same and/or related field of study, as will as for immediate entry into practice.
Learning objectives
Graduates of the bachelor's degree in the study program Structural and Transport Engineering (SP STE) will acquire the knowledge necessary to understand and demonstrate theoretical and practical cognitions based on the current state of science in the field of design, preparation and implementation of engineering and transport structures. The graduate will be prepared for studies at the second degree of higher education in the same and/or related field of study, as will as for immediate entry into practice. In accordance with the acquired theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills, the graduate will be prepared for the design, realization and operation of simple and small constructions of various types and purposes, at the same time he will be able to lead a basic economic agenda.
Main learning outcomes
Theoretical knowledge Graduate of the study program: - demonstrates knowledge and the necessary theoretical foundations from natural science disciplines and their understanding in SP STE, - can use knowledge of calculation methods, principles and procedures of reliable and economical design of engineering and transport structures, as well as supporting systems of buildings, - has the ability to acquire, interpret, use and adequately develop basic theoretical knowledge in the design and construction of less demanding engineering and transport structures, as well as less demanding load-bearing structures of buildings, - has developed learning skills that are necessary to continue further studies with a high degree of independence. Practical abilities and skills Graduate of the study program: - demonstrates knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and rules relating to engineering structures and civil constructions, can use them in practical activities in a way that demonstrates understanding of the context and consequences of alternative solutions and decisions, - knows how to use his knowledge and understand the basic principles and procedures for the realization of various types of engineering structures and civil constructions; can comprehensively handle related organizational and technological tasks, - has the ability to acquire and interpret relevant data/facts, make responsible decisions, communicate, manage and control technological construction procedures. Complementary knowledge, abilities, and skills Graduate of the study program: - can use basic knowledge of a socio-economic nature, - able to present information, concepts, principles, problems and solutions to professional and lay audiences, - can communicate in at least one world language, - has developed skills for self-education and expansion of knowledge and abilities acquired through study, - has the skills to organize his education and further professional development, capable to form a habit of continuous professional education, - can interpret and apply legislation in construction business practice following generally accepted moral and ethical principles, - has "soft skills" and can apply in the labor market.

Spatial, material, and technical provision of the study programme and support
List and characteristics of the study programme classroomsAdequate spatial, material, technical, and informational resources are available to guarantee the quality of the study program STE and to achieve the set goals and outcomes of education. Link to the virtual tour - the spatial and technical equipment of the faculty: https://svf.tuke.sk/wps/portal/svf/uchadzaci/prehliadka-fakulty Material and technical equipment of the Center for Research and Innovation in Construction (CVIS) laboratory can be glimpsed here: https://www.cvis.sk/ The list of auditoriums, classrooms, and laboratories is available at: https://at.tuke.sk (administration of classrooms and lecture rooms).
Characteristics of the information provision
For the study program STE, access to study literature and information databases is provided through the TUKE University Library: http://www.lib.tuke.sk/ and the TUKE Digital University Library: http://www.lib.tuke.sk/Library/ Home/DigitalLibrary). Other necessary materials for individual subjects are provided directly by the teachers of the given subjects via the Moodle e-learning portal, which is also used to verify students' knowledge and the level of achievement of the planned educational outcomes. Access to the necessary information technologies is ensured through the Institute of Computing Technology TUKE (https://uvt.tuke.sk/wps/portal/uv/software).
E-learning
Study materials are available at the Moodle e-learning portal, which is also used to check students' knowledge and progress within the planned educational outcomes. Lectures, exercises, or consultations take place via the CISCO Webex communication platform. For TUKE employees and students, access to these tools is free (https://uvt.tuke.sk/wps/portal/uv/sluzby/webex/prihlasenie-sa-do-webex, http://moodle.tuke.sk/ ).
Institution partners
Within the IKDS study program, several partners from practice are engaged in the educational activities, either as host lecturers or as organizers of excursions to compelling buildings and construction sites with issues/examples associated with the study program. Industrial partners are also involved in diploma and bachelor thesis topics, often focused on the existing problems, and needs of the practice. They take part in the assessment of final student projects and teaching materials and are appointed in state exams within state committees of individual study programs. Such cooperation guarantees quality and enhances study programs' implementation, development, and evaluation. Long-term partners from practice are listed in the Annual Report on Faculty Activities: https://svf.tuke.sk/wps/portal/svf/fakulta/vyrocne-spravy. Further, academic university partners offer domestic and foreign mobilities and internships for students in the form of long-term or short-term mobilities/internships.
