Graduate profile

Description
A graduate of the Engineering Technology study program has knowledge of conventional and unconventional technologies of forming, plastic processing, machining, welding, joining, and surface treatment of materials. He is able to analyze and solve the tasks of the pre-production, production and post-production stages, also with the support of CAx technologies. Can creatively apply acquired knowledge in the complex design of engineering production using conventional and progressive technologies.
Learning objectives
Graduates have the ability to integrate and apply knowledge, manage complexity and formulate decisions when applying the principles of technological design of components and products, apply knowledge about the construction, structure and utility properties of materials when processing them into structural products. When applying their knowledge and making decisions, they manage complexity and formulate decisions even with incomplete or limited information in the field of forming, plastic processing, machining, welding, joining, pre-treatment of surfaces and surface treatments. They will be ready to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in the design and construction of machines and tools for conventional and unconventional technologies. Graduates will gain expanded knowledge about the possibility of using experimental methods in assessing the safety and reliability of machines and about methods of product quality control from the point of view of social and ethical responsibility. Graduates are able to clearly and unambiguously communicate conclusions, findings and justifications to both experts and lay recipients using mathematical modeling methods, simulation methods, logistics and mathematical optimization. Graduates of the study program are able to formulate relevant conclusions from realized experimental analyzes in solving scientific and technical problems of engineering practice, thus having developed educational skills that allow them to continue further self-study and are prepared for doctoral studies (third level) in the study program Mechanical Technologies and materials.
Main learning outcomes
Graduates of the Engineering Technology study program, on the basis of the acquired knowledge in the areas of materials, conventional as well as progressive engineering technologies of forming, plastic processing, machining, welding, joining, pretreatment of surfaces and surface treatments, and knowledge of a foreign language can be employed in engineering as well as metallurgical enterprises in in the functions of technologists, designers, production coordinators, quality controllers, in the administration of pre-production stages, sellers of engineering products, sales representatives of manufacturers of tools, machines and equipment. Graduates of the program can creatively apply the acquired knowledge in the complex design of the production process and will find employment as a research and development worker, coordinator and manager of work teams in production companies in the design and development of modern production technologies and also in ensuring the operation of these technologies within the Slovak Republic, respectively. abroad. After completing the pedagogical and psychological basics, they can also be applied in education. For graduates with excellent academic results, it is possible to continue in the 3rd stage of university studies in the Mechanical Technologies and Materials study program, which allows obtaining a scientific-academic PhD degree.
Professions

Evaluation of the study programme quality by employers
Engineering technologies were evaluated by the representative of Askozvar, s.r.o. - Ing. Jozef Zohn, PhD. He had the following recommendation regarding the structure and content of the study plan: With the form of full-time study using the combined method, in my opinion, the student has a very compressed time for theoretical preparation and loses real contact with the school and the general culture of behavior of the obtained degree. He has no comments on the profile of the ŠP graduate. Graduates of the SP are successfully employed in the listed occupations, where they use the acquired qualifications and there is interest in the graduates of this SP on the labor market. ŠP agrees with personnel security. ŠP agrees with spatial, material and technical security. It also agrees with the monitoring and securing system of the ŠP. Overall assessment: SP fulfills sector-specific expectations, requirements of practice and the labor market.

Characteristics of the information provision
Access to study literature and information databases is provided through the TUKE University Library: http://www.lib.tuke.sk/Library/Home/DigitalLibrary The library fund of UK TUKE consists of its own funds (books, scripts, anthologies, magazines, theses and electronic media). In 2022, the library fund consisted of 172,878 book units. The annual addition to the library is over 3,000 book units. The study room contains basic and supplementary study literature, magazines, anthologies, encyclopedias, language and educational dictionaries. Users have free access to them. As part of the lending services, users borrow approximately 5,000 book units annually. The university library has barrier-free access to 2 elevators and 2 barrier-free toilets. There are 650 study places and more than 300 places with electrical sockets for charging laptops and mobile phones. The library has 32 desktop computers with Internet connection, intranet, Wi-Fi network and access to databases of electronic periodicals. Through the library's Copycenter, students have access to printing and reprographic services provided on 12 printers, 3 of which are large-capacity for oversized printing. The library also has its own digitization workplace with a scanning robot, as well as a book scanner for the public, which is located in the study room. Currently, the library fund is being built not only on a physical level (print and USB, CD, DVD), but also a repository of digitized books from the library fund on the MediaINFO platform, containing over 600 titles, is being developed. Access to information technologies is ensured through ÚVT TUKE: https://uvt.tuke.sk/wps/portal/uv/software
