DescriptionA graduate of the bachelor's study program has general knowledge at the level of synthesis from the basics of architectural and urban planning. Understands the typology of residential, civil buildings, industrial and engineering buildings and their internal environment. He masters the basics of garden and landscape architecture, urban planning and technical construction disciplines. Applies knowledge of building materials, including alternative and construction technologies. He has adequate knowledge of the history of fine arts and architecture, the history of urban construction, and general knowledge of social and humanitarian disciplines related to the study field of architecture and urban planning.
Learning objectives
Graduates of the bachelor's study program will acquire knowledge about the creation and transformation of the physical, social and cultural environment, ranging from architectural elements, through objects of land and engineering constructions of various purposes and sizes, ensembles of buildings including garden and landscape architecture, residences to extensive territorial and landscape units in different context. It acquires the ability to assemble diverse elements and harmonize different, often conflicting requirements into a functioning harmonious spatial unit. He will master the principles of the art of architecture and urban planning, which include the creation, design, planning, management, implementation and presentation of new works, care for the protection of nature and monuments, and deal with cultural, ethical, aesthetic, socioeconomic and environmental conditions that affect the quality of life of an individual and wider society and have an impact on the sustainability of the civilizational level of society and life on Earth.
Main learning outcomes
The graduate has general knowledge at the level of synthesis from the basics of architectural and urban design, typology of residential, civil buildings, production and engineering buildings and their internal environment, basics of garden and landscape architecture, spatial planning, from technical-construction disciplines, knowledge of building materials, including alternative and construction technologies, he also has adequate knowledge of the history of fine arts and architecture, the history of urban construction, and general knowledge of social and humanitarian disciplines related to the study field of architecture and urban planning. He has skills in dealing with individual elements of architectural composition, typology and knows how to work creatively with them in the process of architectural and urban planning and design. When designing specific tasks, he applies knowledge from the field of architectural and urban design, from the field of structural and technical disciplines. He can use information about the coordination of the work of specialists in the participating disciplines and will use them to an appropriate extent when processing his own proposals. He has sufficient knowledge for the analysis of problems and their subsequent specification for the relevant participating profession. When designing, he uses knowledge about methods and techniques of architectural and urban planning, about methods of creation with computer support and basic legal aspects related to architectural and urban planning. A graduate of the bachelor´s study program is able to create simpler architectural or urban designs under professional supervision. He can independently create project documentation of buildings that do not require zoning and construction procedures and, to a reasonable extent, implementation documentation of the architectural and construction part of the project. He is ready to independently prepare and evaluate documents for the needs of architectural or urban planning, to prepare partial architectural and urban designs and projects using computer and manual techniques. The graduate has the ability to present their proposals and justify their solutions to a professional audience. He is able to work effectively as a team member.

Characteristics of the information provision
Library services are concentrated in the University Library (UK) of the Technical University in Košice, which includes all activities from searching in the library fund to searching for information in the online catalog and available databases (WoS, Scopus, Springer Link, etc.) to making it available specific documents in printed or electronic form in the UK TUKE fund (the total number of documents is 186,966, of which 64,228 books, 40,046 textbooks, 7,779 anthologies, 6,341 bound periodicals, 7,718 electronic documents, 31,846 final and qualifying theses). UK also provides: loan services; consulting services; reference services; digital services; MVS and MKVS service; education and training for writing theses. The Faculty of Arts also has its own reference library on its premises for full-time study of literature in the field of art, architecture and urban planning. The AaU Department of the TUKE Faculty of Arts has specialized laboratories with the necessary technical and technological equipment for the study program in order to be able to carry out and develop the evaluated study program and meet its educational goals.
