Graduate profile
DescriptionThe study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning (2nd level - engineering studies) will provide graduates with a broader professional profile of management, organization and work of various rescue systems and their connection to an integrated rescue system, as well as planning, designing, managing and organizing activities at the appropriate level of management in mining activities and activities of mining methods. A graduate of the study program independently designs, implements and evaluates problems related to the prevention of industrial solutions for accidents, emergencies, civil protection of the population, handling, storage and transportation of hazardous substances. Proposes solutions for fire safety of transport tunnels and the suitability of materials for fire protection. Graduates are also able to prepare comprehensive proposals for opening, preparation and execution plans (POPD), technological and work procedures, as well as other internal documents in accordance with the applicable legislation for individual activities within mining activities and mining methods (defined in Section 3 of Act No. 51/1988 Coll. on mining activities, explosives and on the state mining administration). They are also able to solve problems in the extraction of mineral resources, the construction of underground works and facilities, as well as other activities carried out underground. They methodically guide the planning and design of technological processes and the quality control of their production. A graduate of the Master of Science in Mining formulates recommendations, procedures for solving professional problems, proposes and enables projects for their solution. They have the professional, communication and management skills necessary for the performance of higher management functions. They are able to design and defend projects in the field of mining planning (mining activities and activities carried out by mining methods), prevention, safety, health protection, population, employees, the environment and property. The cross-sectional nature of the Department of Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning does not exclude the application of graduates in other areas.
Learning objectives
A graduate of the engineering study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning is prepared for planning, designing and managing technical and organizational activities, preventive safety and emergency measures, as well as for carrying out rescue and liquidation work in the event of accidents and incidents in mining and quarry operations, in operations for the construction of underground structures and tunnels and other operations of activities carried out in a mining manner defined in Section 3 of Act No. 51/1988 Coll. on mining activities, explosives and on the state mining administration. A graduate of the aforementioned study program masters the methods of the production process of mining deposits and the principles of technological processes of raw material extraction (primarily processes of rock separation, processes of stabilization of the rock massif, processes of extraction and transport), but also the methods and principles of processing and treatment of raw materials. He/She is able to use this knowledge, as well as other complex knowledge (principles of geological and hydrogeological dynamic phenomena of the earth's crust, principles of geomechanical manifestations of rock massifs, underground security systems, technical means used in the extraction of mineral resources, construction of underground works, but also in fire and emergency prevention and liquidation interventions, environmental protection, legislation and economics of the subject area) for planning and designing activities within mining activities and activities carried out by mining methods in accordance with their economic efficiency, safety and environmental acceptability. He/She also knows the basic parameters of the working environment in connection with production technologies and knowledge of the basic conditions for ensuring occupational health and safety in given conditions. Future graduates are professionally profiled in the field of mining planning, mine rescue, fire protection and occupational safety. They acquire comprehensive knowledge about the organization and work in mining activities and activities carried out in a mining manner, the organization and work of various rescue systems (mining rescue service, fire and rescue brigade, safety and technical service, road rescue system) and their connections to the integrated rescue system. The majority of the study is focused on preventive, liquidation and regression activities of industrial accidents and natural disasters. Thus, the graduate acquires an original, unified and comprehensive view of the issues of mining planning, rescue, fire and safety technology.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the engineering study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning is able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the field of study Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources, in the study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning going beyond, expanding and enriching knowledge and understanding associated with the first level of higher education, which provides a basis or opportunity for originality in the development and application of principles, often in connection with research. 2. Can use the acquired knowledge, its understanding and has the ability to creatively solve problems in new or unfamiliar environments, in broader contexts beyond the field of study Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources. 3. Has the ability to integrate knowledge, manage complexity and formulate decisions even with incomplete or limited information, including social and ethical responsibility in the application of their knowledge and in decision-making. 4. Can clearly and unambiguously communicate conclusions, knowledge and reasoning to both experts and lay audiences. 5. Has developed educational skills, has developed critical thinking skills, independent learning and working with professional literature, which allow him to continue further self-study.

Evaluation of the study programme quality by employers
The study program at FBERG TUKE is fully implemented with the needs of real practice. Since the communication between education at FBERG TUKE and employers is continuous, it consists in solving joint projects with the involvement of students, in solving research tasks of a commercial nature, it uses professionals from companies in the process of completing studies by being a member of the state examination committees at the relevant level of higher education, the faculty reflects the requirements of employers of graduates of the given study program and critically evaluates them with trends abroad.
