Graduate profile

Description
The study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning (1st level - Bachelor's degree) will provide graduates with a broader professional profile, both in the organization and operation of various rescue systems and their connection to an integrated rescue system, and in planning, managing and organizing activities at the appropriate level of management in mining activities and activities carried out in a mining manner. Graduates are able to independently prepare proposals for occupational safety and health protection, environmental safety, evaluate safety risks and develop documentation and fire protection projects. They are able to assess the fire safety of buildings, the size of fire compartments, determine fire risks, fire-technical properties of materials and design escape routes, separation distances and fire-fighting equipment. Graduates are also able to independently prepare simple designs of opening plans, preparation and extraction and procedures for the construction of underground works for a production and organizational unit, they are also able to solve simple problems related to mining, creating open underground spaces, works and objects underground. They methodically guide the design of simpler technological processes and are able to control the quality of their production. The cross-sectional nature of the study program does not exclude the application of graduates in other areas.
Learning objectives
A graduate of the bachelor's study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning is prepared for the practical implementation of technical and organizational activities, preventive safety and emergency measures, as well as the implementation of rescue and liquidation work in the event of accidents and breakdowns in mining and quarry operations, in operations for the construction of underground structures and tunnels and other operations of activities carried out in a mining manner defined in Section 3 of Act No. 51/1988 Coll. on mining activities, explosives and on the state mining administration. A graduate of the aforementioned study program masters the methods of the production process of mining deposits and the basic principles of technological processes of raw material extraction (primarily processes of rock separation, processes of stabilization of the rock mass, processes of extraction and transport), but also the methods and principles of processing and treatment of raw materials. Furthermore, they master the basic parameters of the working environment in connection with production technologies, or working comfort in the non-production sphere and knowledge of the basic conditions for ensuring occupational health and safety in given conditions. Future graduates are professionally profiled in the field of mining planning, mining rescue, fire protection and occupational safety. They acquire basic knowledge about the organization and work in mining activities and activities carried out in a mining manner, the organization and work of various rescue systems (mining rescue service, fire and rescue brigade, safety and security service, road rescue system) and their connection to the integrated rescue system. The majority of the study is focused on preventive, liquidation and regression activities of industrial accidents and natural disasters. Thus, the graduate gains an original, unified and comprehensive view of the issues of mining planning, rescue, fire and safety technology.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the bachelor's degree program in Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning is able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the field of study Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources, which is based on their general secondary education and is typically at the level of advanced textbooks supplemented with selected aspects of the latest knowledge from the field of study Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources, in the study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning. 2. Can use their knowledge and understanding in a manner indicating a professional approach to work and the profession and has competencies usually demonstrated by posing and defending arguments and solving problems, specific tasks in the field of study Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources, in the study program Rescue, Fire and Safety Technology, Mining Planning, especially in the field of mining activities and activities carried out by mining methods, including safety and emergency protection in this area. 3. Has the ability to obtain and interpret relevant data, facts, usually in the field of study Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources, in the study program Rescue Fire and Safety Technology, and based on them to make ethical and socially responsible decisions. 4. Can communicate information, concepts, principles, problems and solutions to both professional and lay audiences. 5. Has developed educational skills necessary to continue in further study with a high degree of independence.
