Graduate profile

Description
The study program Renewable Energy Sources and Sustainable Energy educates experts needed to fulfill the tasks of the state, the economy, the environment, and the mineral resources management of the Slovak Republic according to Article 4 of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic. The study program provides knowledge, abilities, and skills primarily in the field of the use and protection of earth's resources based on the results of basic and applied research. Language and communication skills create the prerequisites for employment in managerial and economic functions at all levels of management at home and abroad. For the present and especially for the next few decades, its importance is expected to grow based on the need to increase the economic and social efficiency of the use of all categories of social resources at all levels of their processing, and thus the need for experts in this area
Learning objectives

Theoretical knowledge: A graduate of the program Renewable Energy Sources and Sustainable Energy: - demonstrates the ability to conceive, construct, implement and modify a substantial part of research with scientific integrity in the field of renewable energy sources; - will be capable of critical analysis in the field of earth resources, i.e., conducts scientific research and brings his own solutions to problems in the field of renewable energy sources and energy; - creates new technologies for the identification and use of previously known and available earth resources and defines new earth resources for needs in the near future. Additional knowledge, abilities and skills A graduate of the field of Acquisition and Processing of Earth Resources will acquire: - the ability, both in an academic and professional context, to support progress in a knowledge-based society, especially in the field of earth resources, their use and protection - the principles of scientific work research - development - application, scientifically formulate a problem (technical assignment), economic, environmental and legal aspects of the use of new technologies for the acquisition and processing of earth resources, as well as new ways of using existing ones and defining new earth resources; - the ethical and social aspects of scientific work, presentation of results, development of the study program and contribution to practice; - will obtain a comprehensive three-level higher education in the field of acquisition and processing of earth resources; - will master scientific work methods, integrated management systems and techniques of statistical process analysis; - acquire theoretical erudition in a wider range of related scientific disciplines, appropriately selected taking into account his/her personal orientation in scientific research.
Main learning outcomes
The graduate masters scientific methods of research and development in the field of renewable energy sources and sustainable energy with an orientation to and methods of valuing earth resources, techniques and technologies of identification, exploration and use of energy resources. Last but not least, he is guided to their protection from the point of view of occupational safety and environmental protection. The graduate of the study program is capable of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex concepts in the field of energy resources use. He is able to scientifically research, define, confirm or refute theories, verify the validity, correctness and adequacy of large-scale innovative technological solutions in the field of obtaining and processing earth resources, when taking positions on legislative and environmental aspects; define the structure of financial investment in the field of earth resources; define criteria for analyzing and valuing earth resources from various perspectives according to the desired purpose and, based on the assessment, create concepts for their optimal use and evaluate these concepts. He is able to carry out these activities with a high degree of creativity and independence and to manage research and development in this area. The emphasis is on the graduate, depending on the profile, to acquire top-notch knowledge in the field of earth resources, their technological, information, economic, managerial, production and logistical support, as well as environmental protection. With his original research, the graduate contributes to expanding the boundaries of scientific knowledge, especially in the field of earth resources, through an extensive body of work, especially in the form of scientific articles published in international scientific journals, contributions to international conferences and symposia with active participation. The graduate of the study program is also able to analyze, design, organize and manage entities forming the structure of renewable energy sources and sustainable energy, define scientific problems, manage research and select objective results within the framework of scientific research activities. Analyze the deployment of new technologies and knowledge, especially in the field of renewable energy sources, new technologies in the use of earth resources and identification. The acquired language and professional knowledge will enable the graduate to optimize the management system of workers at all levels of the organization of the sector of extraction and processing of earth resources, to take responsibility for the fulfillment of business and social goals within and outside the sector. He creates new knowledge, usable for defining new possibilities for the use of energy resources. A graduate of the study program finds and applies solutions to problems associated with achieving the maximum level of economic efficiency of work and the ranking of subjects in the sector, extraction and processing of earth resources, creatively applies all knowledge obtained as a result of his own work in examining the theoretical basis, creates concepts and models of the future development of the sector and its subjects, uses knowledge about the nature of technological solutions to problems in the sector in a comparative manner, i.e. by comparing them with solutions in the closer and more distant social environment, solves complex problems of a social nature, applies modern methods of communication in the sector and non-sectoral environment in at least one of the world languages.

Employability

Evaluation of the study programme graduates employability
Due to the fact that renewable resources are in the process of expansion and rapid use, the assumption of graduates' employment is
Evaluation of the study programme quality by employers
The Renewable Energy Sources and Sustainable Energy study program at FBERG TUKE is fully implemented in accordance with the needs of real practice. Communication between the OZE department, where the study program is implemented, and employers is continuous, consists in solving joint projects with the involvement of students, in solving research tasks of a commercial nature, uses company professionals in the process of completing studies by membership in state examination committees at the relevant level of higher education, the faculty reflects the requirements of employers for graduates of the given study program and critically evaluates them with trends abroad. OZE Energia s.r.o. issues a favorable opinion on the compliance of the acquired qualifications of graduates of the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Management and Geotechnologies of the Technical University of Košice (FBERG TUKE) with sector-specific requirements for the performance of the profession. HSH Group issues a positive opinion on the compliance of the acquired qualifications of graduates of the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Management and Geotechnology of the Technical University of Košice (FBERG TUKE) with sector-specific requirements for the performance of the profession.

Characteristics of the information provision
The departments of the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) use the rich library collection of the University Library (UK) for the development of the study program, the mission of which is to provide information for scientific research and the pedagogical process at TUKE. The digital library of UK (http://www.lib.tuke.sk) is also available to students and employees of TUKE, which provides: lending services; consulting services; reference services; digital services; MVS and MKVS services; education and training for writing final theses. Library services are concentrated in the UK TUKE, which include all activities from searching the library collection through searching for information in the online catalog and available databases (Springer Link, Science Direct, IEEExplore, etc.), to making specific documents available in print or electronic form in the UK collection (the total number of documents is 186966, of which 64228 books, 40046 textbooks, 7779 proceedings, 6341 bound periodicals, 7718 electronic documents, 31846 final and qualification theses). Students have access to the Internet on the school campus and in the dormitories via WiFi connection, which allows them unlimited access to library services. The MAIS academic information system http://mais.tuke.sk/ ensures the entry, processing and provision of information on the admission procedure (application submission, results, overviews), on the study (subject information sheets, timetable, registration for exams, results of interim and final assessments, submission of final theses, assessments of final theses, etc.).
