DescriptionApplied Informatics will be a four-year professionally oriented Bachelor’s degree programme in the field of Informatics. It will focus on the practical application of information technologies, as well as the testing and development of software solutions for various industrial sectors. The programme will provide an education combining the theoretical foundations of informatics with the practical skills required by the labour market. The majority of the courses in the study programme will focus on applying knowledge of mathematics, programming, operating systems, database systems, and artificial intelligence to solving problems related to software testing and development, ICT systems administration, network administration, and process automation in various industrial and business environments. Teaching will be organised to ensure that students acquire not only professional knowledge but also practical experience through projects, laboratory exercises, and internships in IT companies. Throughout their studies, students will work closely with companies, which will provide them with opportunities for specialisation as well as facilitate a smooth transition into professional practice after graduation.
Learning objectives
Graduates of the professionally oriented Bachelor’s degree programme in Applied Informatics will acquire an education in informatics that will enable them to meet the growing demands for digitalisation and automation across various industrial sectors. The theoretical foundation of the programme will provide graduates with knowledge in informatics that will remain relevant in the long term. This foundation will be complemented by courses focused on automation, optimisation, software development and testing, the administration and security of ICT systems and networks, as well as the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence. Graduates of Applied Informatics are expected to find employment in all types of companies and organisations that depend on information technologies, where they will perform, in particular, the following tasks: working as a member of a software development team, configuration management, database administration, software and system installation and administration, process automation and optimisation, and configuration of networks and peripheral devices. Graduates will also be able to independently develop small-scale software applications of limited complexity and to contribute, at the required level of quality, to the development of large-scale systems in accordance with precisely defined specifications.

A graduate of the Applied Informatics study programme will be prepared for practical employment in the ICT sector, with the skills required to address current technological challenges and develop innovative solutions. They will possess knowledge and experience in software testing and development, systems administration, and the application of information technologies. They will be able to automate and optimize ICT processes in industry, implement software solutions, use and administer operating systems, database systems, and networks, solve problems using algorithms and advanced computational methods, utilize modern tools for data analysis, and apply their knowledge across various industrial sectors.

These are dynamically developing areas not only in the current global economy, but also in Slovakia. Based on several factors, we can expect graduates of this programme to have strong employment prospects: The ICT labour market has been experiencing long-term growth. According to European Union statistics, the demand for IT professionals is increasing, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming years. Graduates of the Applied Informatics study programme will therefore be able to find employment across a wide range of industries and in various positions.
