Graduate profile
DescriptionThe study program is focused on the development of skills associated with the research of progressive technologies and algorithms, the use of a wide range of software tools for analysis, simulation and modeling of all aspects of aerospace systems. The program is oriented towards the development of abilities, competences and digital skills necessary to master the issues of research and development of avionics systems, propulsion units, structural elements, materials, design as well as the operation of aircraft and space vehicles. For this, the student has the opportunity to choose his study path with theoretical basis subjects and specialization subjects. The graduate of the study program is able to abstract scientific problems while studying foreign professional literature, is ready to form hypotheses, trends and concepts of development in technically and computer-supported aviation and space constructions and technologies. In addition, he is able to generalize this knowledge and transfer it to other areas of technical practice.
Learning objectives
A graduate of the Aerospace Systems study program in the transport field of study is profiled as an independent creative designer and developer of elements, modules, nodes and components of aviation and space technology, as an independent creative worker in the field of software products in aviation, aerospace and in the field of creating new information systems in these areas or as leaders of interdisciplinary research and design collectives. The graduate should be able to work in international research teams, in design, technical and operational research. The graduate masters the scientific methods of research and development in the field, demonstrates the ability and readiness for independent creative and research activity in the given field. The graduate acquires the ability to abstract scientific problems while studying foreign professional literature, is ready to shape trends and concepts of development in technically and computer-supported aerospace constructions and technologies. The goal of education is the development of soft skills of graduates who will be able to clearly communicate scientific problems, formulate research hypotheses as well as have managerial skills for leading interdisciplinary teams. The study program also aims to develop students' creative thinking in the context of exact technical sciences, which leads to the ability to bring innovative ideas and procedures in the field of aviation and space systems as well as other related areas in the field of transport.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the third degree of university studies in the field of Aerospace Systems will acquire the following additional knowledge, abilities and skills: - able to lead smaller and larger teams of scientific, research and development workers, lead large projects and take responsibility for complex solutions to scientific and research problems, - he will be able to follow the latest scientific and research trends in the field of aviation and cosmonautics and supplement and update his knowledge in the field of aviation and space systems in the form of lifelong learning, - learns the principles of managerial work, the design of an experiment with a time schedule, the management and control of team workers, - able to communicate and cooperate with scientific project managers and specialists from other professions, - is able to apply the legal, social, moral, ethical, economic and environmental aspects of his profession in his work. The graduate will acquire the following practical skills during his studies: • analyze and develop technologies of aviation and space technology systems in the context of the most modern methods and scientific knowledge, • competently communicate with the aviation environment, lead broad interdisciplinary teams in the field of research and development of aviation systems, • independently design and implement progressive hardware and software solutions for the analysis and processing of extensive data sets (e.g. flight data), • develop design and technical skills in working with selected aviation and space technology, • be a senior employee of the aviation services and technical security teams of aviation and space assets, A graduate can: • lead and manage an interdisciplinary research team in the environment of aerospace engineering, • independently and creatively solve technical tasks in the application to on-board aircraft and space systems and their propulsion systems, • behave professionally in all areas of your activity with an emphasis on ethical standards in the area of your work contacts within production and maintenance facilities, • work as a leading technician and manager in research and development of aviation technology, • communicate detailed information, advanced concepts and creative approaches to solving research tasks and trends in the field of aerospace technology to professional and lay audiences.

Employability
Evaluation of the study programme graduates employabilityGiven that this is a new study program, it is not possible to evaluate the applicability of graduates in a statistically relevant way. In addition, graduates of the study program can be employed by leading operators and manufacturers of aviation technology who are partners of the faculty (https://lf.tuke.sk/wps/portal/lf/fakulta/partneri-fakulty) in development and research positions of companies operating in the field of "Aerospace" such as Honeywell International, Aero Vodochody, Tomark Aero, General Electrics, EASA, Airbus, etc.
Evaluation of the study programme quality by employers
We have positive evaluations of the study program from leading manufacturers and operators of aviation and space technology. Specifically, it is a company: Honeywell Aerospace, which is a manufacturer of aircraft engines, aircraft systems, avionics complexes, space systems, military systems and others. Furthermore, the program is positively evaluated by the leading manufacturer of aviation technology Aero Vodochody as well as the leading national manufacturer and developer of aviation technology from the field of small aircraft Tomark Aero. We also have a positive evaluation of the study program from the company performing service and maintenance of aircraft technology Röder Component Service Center s.r.o., which covers the spectrum of profiles of the study program. We also have a positive response from the Association of the Security and Defense Industry of the Slovak Republic, which brings together a spectrum of technological companies involved in the production and development of military equipment, where graduates of the Aerospace and Space Systems study program can apply. In addition, the study program was positively evaluated by the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, and successful graduates can become leading specialists in the field of avionics as well as aircraft operation and construction in the air forces of the Slovak Armed Forces. The evaluations of the study program are listed in the attached files.
