Graduate profile

Description
A graduate of the Cybersecurity study program of the field of informatics (2nd degree) will acquire the ability to analyze systems from the point of view of their security, complexity and efficiency and propose suitable algorithmic solutions for critical components, specify, design, implement and maintain modern software systems, analyze and modify existing software systems. A graduate of the field of informatics (2nd degree) is able to work effectively in a professional and development team, is able to lead a team, follows the latest developments in his field and adds to his knowledge throughout his life. Graduates of the Informatics study program can also continue their studies at the 3rd level (doctoral studies) in the same or related informatics field.
Learning objectives
Graduates of the second degree of computer science in the Cybersecurity program can apply all aspects of information and computer security in IT practice. Graduates can specify, design, implement and maintain software systems and work independently with a high degree of creativity. Graduates are able to analyze systems in terms of security, complexity and efficiency and propose appropriate solutions to key problems. The graduate can work creatively in the whole range of information technology applications, in which he applies advanced methods and techniques depending on the chosen subjects of the study program. The education is organized in terms of both content and organization in such a way that this study program respects the current and anticipated state of the labor market, the technical-economic and social development of society, but at the same time it is also attractive to applicants for higher education. Graduates will thus find better employment on the domestic and international labor market or can continue their studies at the 3rd level (doctoral studies) in the same or a related field. From the point of view of the long-term aim of the Technical University in Košice in the field of education, the study program integrates the set strategic goals, for example: - Creates the conditions for a better adaptation of first-year students immediately after they enter the university through leading years and the organization of informal meetings with the aim of supporting an open and friendly atmosphere, creative dialogue with students based on the collegial and accommodating approach of educators. - Continually conducts a dialogue with employer representatives, responds to needs and issues identified through mutual interaction with companies associated in the Košice IT Valley cluster, in the Forum of Centers of Shared Services at the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia or IT Association of Slovakia. - Increases the involvement of experts from practice in the form of invited lectures, workshops or definition of topics for diploma theses. It creates and develops an ecosystem of a study program that allows students to acquire the skills of rapid adaptation to changes, to be ready to take responsibility for their actions and decisions, taking into account the wider social consequences, and ultimately increases the interest of quality applicants for the study. - It supports students' natural abilities and develops the abilities of gifted students. In project-oriented or problem-oriented teaching, students have a defined basic set of requirements that must be met in order to achieve the expected learning goal. At the same time, they can develop creative and flexible thinking beyond the scope of these normal duties, thus producing outputs at a higher level and with higher added value. It develops competencies in students, with which they can solve problems, coordinate procedures in teams and make independent and responsible decisions in a changing environment. - Supports and motivates students' involvement in teaching quality assessment processes, the conclusions of which are regularly evaluated and the necessary corrective measures are applied. Through regular communication with students, he evaluates existing links between subjects and individual trajectories from the point of view of the future employment of graduates. - In cooperation with the faculty coordinator for working with students with specific needs, the necessary conditions for the integration of students into the teaching process are ensured. - Improves the educational process by interacting with partner universities abroad, participating in the solution of the IT Academy project - education for the 21st century (innovation of selected subjects) or the solution of several KEGA projects. Uniform instructions for the solution of the final theses were introduced, which serve as a general framework that can be adapted to the requirements of a specific topic.
Main learning outcomes
The graduate profile includes knowledge, skills and competences (covered by relevant subjects): - He can recognize problems in time and name them correctly, he analyzes them from different points of view. He knows how to use the acquired knowledge and has the ability to creatively solve problems in new, unfamiliar environments. He knows how to synthesize a new solution and looks at the result with an emphasis on originality, complexity, added value, ethical and social responsibility. - Has developed skills to learn independently; demonstrates the knowledge and understanding needed to apply research-related concepts, even in new situations or unfamiliar environments. - Demonstrates knowledge and understanding beyond the scope of the first degree of higher education in the field of obtaining and recording user requirements when solving ICT security issues. - Can clearly and unambiguously communicate information about the procedure and results of task solving, conclusions and justifications to both experts and lay recipients or the public. At an advanced level, he masters the creation of a presentation according to the requirements and the situation, the ability to adapt to the audience and answer questions. - Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking beyond the scope of the first degree of university studies, uses internal motivation, a creative and flexible approach to solving assigned tasks. It affects decision-making in projects related mainly to analytical tasks, goals and solutions in broader contexts that go beyond the field of study. - Has the ability to integrate knowledge from system security evaluation and risk projects. Works closely with internal and/or external customers and other partners to assess, identify and prioritize risk factors. - Actively acquires and processes information in the field of primary and secondary information sources, including mastering and using modern information technologies.
