Graduate profile
DescriptionThe bachelor of the Cybersecurity study program of the field of Informatics will acquire the ability to analyze security threats of computer and information systems, implement information security solutions, specify, configure and install, manage and maintain information technology systems, evaluate these systems according to quality, work effectively as a member of a development team, use the principles of effective work with information of various kinds and from various sources, use the principles of human-computer interaction in the design of information technology systems, work with tools used in the construction and documentation of software, operate computer and program systems effectively and efficiently. The bachelor of the first degree of university studies in the Cybersecurity program is fully prepared for second-degree studies in various programs in the field of Cybersecurity or related fields.
Learning objectives
Bachelors of the Cyber Security study program of the Informatics department acquire an IT education that enables them to cope with the increasing demands of scientific, technical and economic development in the new century, and their skills significantly exceed general IT literacy. The core of the acquired knowledge of the graduate is oriented towards the field of data, system and software security, as well as social and legal aspects of cyber security. The theoretical basis of the study provides the 1st degree graduate of the computer science department with long-term valid knowledge, shapes his way of thinking (accuracy, ability to abstract), helps him create an idea of the solvability and complexity of solving problems, and gives him the apparatus for formal description of systems. The theoretical basis of the study is supplemented by subjects that enable deeper specialization in one of the areas of cyber security with the aim of entering practice after completing the 1st degree of the field of informatics. It is expected that graduates of the 1st degree of the field of informatics will find employment in all kinds of businesses and organizations that depend on information technology, where they will mainly fulfill the following roles: security specialist, member of the development team of a software solution, configuration manager, installation and management of complex SW and systems, configuring networks and peripherals. He is also able to independently create software applications of small scale and complexity and participate in the required quality in the creation of large systems according to a precisely defined assignment. Study program Cybersecurity in the bachelor's degree: • Creates the conditions for a better adaptation of first-year students immediately after they enter the university from secondary schools through the leading year and the organization of informal meetings with the aim of supporting an open and friendly atmosphere, creative dialogue with students based on the collegial and accommodating approach of educators. • Continually conducts dialogue with employer representatives, responds to needs and topics identified through mutual interaction with companies associated in the Košice IT Valley cluster, in the Forum of Centers of Shared Services at the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia or IT Association of Slovakia. • Develops competences in students, with the help of which they can coordinate partial activities or take responsibility for the results of the team. • Supports and motivates students' involvement in teaching quality assessment processes, the conclusions of which are regularly evaluated and the necessary corrective measures are applied. • In cooperation with the faculty coordinator for work with students with specific needs, he ensures the necessary conditions for the integration of students into the teaching process. • It supports the mobility of students in the form of a study stay or internship, in the academic space or in companies.
Main learning outcomes
The bachelor of the Cybersecurity study program of the Informatics department has basic theoretical and methodological knowledge of the key areas of informatics, especially with regard to its security aspects, he can use them when designing system configurations from ready-made modules, the basis of which is a computer, in such a way that demonstrates an understanding of the connections and consequences of alternative decisions when designing, knows how to use appropriate theory, practical procedures and tools for installing, implementing, operating and evaluating information and communication technology systems, understands the social, moral, legal and economic context of the IT profession. Graduate: - understands informatics as a scientific discipline and profession. - has theoretical knowledge and practical skills of all important aspects of cyber security. - has knowledge of the mathematical and theoretical foundations of informatics, algorithmization, data structures, formal computer languages, operating and database systems, user interfaces. - knows and understands the principles, methods and selected technologies in the field of informatics, software engineering, information systems, computer systems and networks. - understands the development of software and technical means as a systematic process of product development with defined qualities. - can be applied in practice in the field of design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software and computer systems and networks. - is a valid member of the team that deals with the design, implementation, testing and maintenance of the software product, i.e. finds employment as an analyst, programmer, tester. - can search for relevant information, analyze information sources and critically evaluate their quality. - is ready to continue studying at the second level of university studies in the fields of information sciences and information and communication technologies.
