Graduate profile

Description
The Engineering master's degree study programme Artificial Intelligence is a joint, English-taught programme delivered in cooperation with the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. It develops advanced theoretical, research and application-oriented competences required for the design, development, integration and evaluation of complex artificial intelligence systems. The programme is built on three pillars: the mathematical-theoretical and technological core of AI; application domains, innovation and project-based practice; and the research, societal and ethical-legalf ramework. The programme develops students' ability to link theoreticalknowledge with practical implementation, to work with modern AI tool sand to design new concepts and algorithms in a rapidly changing digital economy. Graduates are prepared for careers in technology research, development and innovation, in data science and in the management ofAIp rojects, as well as for doctoral studies at partner institutions in Slovakia and abroad.
Learning objectives
A graduate of the Artificial Intelligence study programme acquires systematic knowledge in artificial intelligence, computer science, mathematics and data science, including the theoretical foundations ofalgorithms, modelling, learning, information processing and the principles of digital trust. They understand the social, ethical and legal context of using AI technologies. They can design, implement and test intelligent systems, work with modern AI frameworks, process and analyse complex data sets, interpret model outputs and communicate their meaning. They master techniques of explainable machine learning, data visualisation and the design of user-understandable solutions. They are able to solve problems independently, think critically, work in interdisciplinary team sand take responsibility for the design and implementation of AI solutions. They understand the principles of trustworthy AI, including transparency, safety, fairness and accountability. They can communicate with both experts and lay persons, support data-driven decision-making and contribute to the digital transformation of society.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the study programme obtains a second-cycle higher education degree focused on the design, development and application of systems using artificial intelligence methods. They will be prepared to independently analyse complex problems, design intelligent algorithms and implement solutions in areas such as machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics and recommendersystems. At the same time, they will acquire a strong mathematical foundation that enables them to understand the principles underlyingexisting systems and to apply them creatively when designing newmodels. They will gain practical skills in software engineering, application development and the use of modern AI tools and frameworks, which allows them to effectively bridge theory and practice. The graduate will beable to demonstrate critical thinking, interpret model outputs and communicate their implications in an interdisciplinary context. They will also develop an awareness of the ethical, legal and societal impacts of artificial intelligence, which prepares them for responsible work in technologically and socially sensitive domains.
