DescriptionGraduates of the Bachelor's study programme Technologies and Innovations in Mechanical Engineering Production possess fundamental theoretical knowledge and professional expertise in the fields of mechanical engineering, manufacturing technologies, materials engineering, and product design. They understand the principles of manufacturing processes, particularly machining, forming, welding, plastics processing, and assembly operations, as well as the properties of engineering materials and their application in industrial practice. Graduates are familiar with the basic principles of designing, planning, organizing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and technological operations. They have knowledge of production planning and preparation and are able to use modern computer-aided engineering tools (CAD/CAM/CAE) for product design and the development of technological processes. They understand the relationships between product design, manufacturing technology, and production efficiency. Graduates are capable of applying the acquired knowledge to solve engineering problems in mechanical manufacturing, analysing and optimizing production processes, and participating in the implementation of modern and innovative manufacturing technologies. In their professional activities, they take into account product quality requirements, production efficiency, occupational health and safety, and the fundamental principles of environmental protection.
Learning objectives
The aim of the Bachelor's study programme Technologies and Innovations in Mechanical Engineering Production is to prepare graduates with fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of mechanical engineering, manufacturing technologies, materials engineering, and product design, enabling them to pursue professional careers or continue their studies at a higher level. The programme focuses on providing knowledge of manufacturing processes, the properties of engineering materials, and the principles of designing, planning, and optimizing production processes. Graduates acquire competence in the use of computer-aided engineering tools (CAD/CAM/CAE) and develop the ability to analyse manufacturing processes and propose technical solutions. Particular emphasis is placed on practical skills gained through laboratory classes and industrial training. Graduates are prepared to solve engineering problems both independently and as members of multidisciplinary teams, participate in the management of manufacturing processes, and contribute to improving the efficiency, quality, and innovation of production.
Main learning outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor's study programme Technologies and Innovations in Mechanical Engineering Production: - demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the fields of mechanical engineering, manufacturing technologies, materials engineering, production planning and preparation, and product design at the level corresponding to the first cycle of higher education, complemented by current developments in the discipline; - are able to apply the acquired knowledge to the design, planning, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and to the solution of engineering problems in a professional manner; - possess the competencies to analyse manufacturing processes, develop technical and technological solutions, and participate in the implementation of modern and innovative manufacturing technologies; - are capable of designing technological procedures, production tools, fixtures, and the basic layout of manufacturing workplaces in accordance with the principles of efficient production organization; - are proficient in the use of modern information technologies and computer-aided engineering tools (CAD/CAM/CAE, CAx technologies, and simulation software) for product design, production planning and preparation, and the optimization of manufacturing processes; - are able to apply knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical metrology, quality control, and CNC technologies, work with technical documentation and engineering standards, and communicate technical solutions effectively to both professional and non-professional audiences; - are prepared to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, while respecting the principles of occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and professional ethics; - possess the necessary academic background to continue their education in a follow-up Master's degree programme in Mechanical Engineering, demonstrating a high level of independence in learning and professional development.

Evaluation of the study programme quality by employers
Engineering technologies were evaluated by the representative of Askozvar, s.r.o. - Ing. Jozef Zohn, PhD. He has no comments on the structure and content of the study plan. He has no comments on the profile of the ŠP graduate. Graduates of the SP are successfully employed in the listed occupations, where they use the acquired qualifications and there is interest in the graduates of this SP on the labor market. ŠP agrees with personnel security. ŠP agrees with spatial, material and technical security. It also agrees with the monitoring and securing system of the ŠP. Overall assessment: SP fulfills sector-specific expectations, requirements of practice and the labor market. Even though almost all bachelor's graduates continue their studies at the engineering level.

Characteristics of the information provision
Access to study literature and information databases is provided through the TUKE University Library: http://www.lib.tuke.sk/Library/Home/DigitalLibrary The University Library collection consists of its own holdings, including books, textbooks, conference proceedings, journals, theses, and electronic media. In 2022, the library collection comprised 172,878 library items. More than 3,000 new items are added annually. The reading rooms provide access to core and supplementary study literature, scientific journals, conference proceedings, encyclopaedias, language and reference dictionaries, all of which are freely accessible to users. Approximately 5,000 library items are borrowed each year through the library lending service. The University Library provides barrier-free access, including two elevators and two accessible restrooms. Students have access to 650 study places and more than 300 seats equipped with power outlets for charging laptops and mobile devices. The library also provides 32 desktop computers with Internet, intranet, and Wi-Fi access, as well as access to electronic journal databases. Through the Library Copy Centre, students have access to printing and reprographic services provided by 12 printers, including three high-capacity printers for large-format printing. The library also operates its own digitization workplace equipped with a scanning robot and a book scanner available to the public in the reading room. In addition to continuously expanding its physical collection (printed publications, USB media, CDs, and DVDs), the library also develops a digital repository of digitized books on the MediaINFO platform, currently containing more than 600 titles
E-learning
The Department of Technologies, Materials and Computer-Aided Production uses the Microsoft Teams platform to support online teaching and communication. The platform provides students with access to all information related to teaching, study materials, and other educational activities.
Institution partners
The study programme is supported by active cooperation with industrial companies and international universities. This cooperation is implemented through semester and bachelor's thesis projects, student internships, technical visits, expert lectures, joint projects, and research activities. Industry professionals are actively involved in the educational process by delivering expert lectures, providing consultations, and proposing topics for bachelor's theses. The main industrial partners include: Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte Košice, Embraco Spišská Nová Ves, Kovorob Košice, Kybernetika Košice, Markob Prešov, Michatek Michalovce, Magneti Marelli Kechnec, SEZ Krompachy, Strojkov Košice, INGMETAL Prešov, ZŤS VVÚ Košice, Hengstler Kežmarok, Zastrova Spišská Stará Ves, and others. In the field of international cooperation, the study programme collaborates primarily with: the University of Maribor (Slovenia), the Czech Technical University in Prague, Brno University of Technology, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, the Technical University of Liberec, Rzeszow University of Technology (Poland), Lublin University of Technology (Poland), and Kielce University of Technology (Poland). The cooperation mainly involves expert lectures, academic exchange programmes, joint research activities, and collaborative research projects.
