Description
A graduate of doctoral studies has practical and theoretical knowledge necessary for research in the field of visual arts and can find innovative procedures and themes in his work. He is able to generalize his experience and knowledge into comprehensive artistic projects, which, with their content, theme, aesthetic processing, or spillover into other fields, constitute a fundamental contribution to society. He has broad and specialized knowledge of art theory, philosophy and aesthetics, he has an overview of contemporary art on a global and local scale. He can present the results of his work in a separate exhibition and other presentation activity, even in a foreign language.
Learning objectives
A graduate of the study program "Art" in the 3rd degree of study will acquire complex knowledge that allows him to define and theoretically justify new author's solutions and innovative procedures within the framework of individual or team art activity, including interpretation of a work of art. Can define and functionally apply intersections between the artistic field and other scientific disciplines. During his studies, he will acquire extensive professional knowledge from several areas of the field of study, which are the basis for carrying out research and development and are initiators for the development of contemporary art and selected segments of the creative industry. The graduate uses an innovative approach, creates and implements author's research in the process of artistic creation. He abstracts and applies his professional experience in creative practice, defines ties in the relationship creation - art artifact - communication - society. The goal of the educational process is the ability to experiment with the artistic form of the work, its format and medium, and thereby expand the range of new artistic approaches or subgenres. The graduate can verify and implement them as part of his research and author's creative process. He declares the results of his work through independent exhibition and presentation activities, but also through professional teaching activities. The graduate is able to realize more complex works of art or interdisciplinary oriented art projects, including in the framework of team cooperation. An important part of the profile of the graduate is his active participation in conferences, professional symposia or other artistic and cultural events.
Main learning outcomes
The graduate is ready to participate in the formation of trends and concepts in the relevant field of art and its reflections. He is able to solve the most demanding tasks in the creation or interpretation of a work of art, in its research. He can participate in long-term strategies and the formation of cultural policy. After completing the doctoral studies, the graduate demonstrates the ability and readiness for independent creative and research activity in the field of free or applied visual arts, based on knowledge of the current state of the art. He publishes its results and is ready to participate in the creation of concepts and developments in his field. A graduate can work as an independent artist or as a university teacher.

The Faculty of Arts currently has premises in Košice: a building in the premises of TU in Košice at Watsonová no. 4 (W4), premises in buildings in the premises of TU in Košice at ul.
