Learning objectives
A graduate of the Bachelor's study program Use of alternative energy sources applies knowledge and skills from the field of Acquisition and processing of earth's resources. The structure of the graduate's professional knowledge and skills is primarily oriented to practical and methodological knowledge in the field of using renewable energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal, water energy, biomass energy, etc.) as alternative sources of energy and fuels in the dimensions of such a large - power energy industry (production of electricity and heat), as well as on the scale of the communal sphere and individual energy systems for households, or alternative fuels in transport. The graduate is comprehensively oriented in the issue of alternative energy sources, while the acquired knowledge is significantly interdisciplinary in nature, understands the natural science basis, basic principles, technical, informational, economic, business, managerial, production and operational aspects of the issue, is able to perceive the nature of the use of alternative sources in the context broader technical, economic, environmental, legislative and social contexts. The graduate is able to critically and creatively approach the solution of tasks related to the implementation of alternative sources in practice. The graduate can propose solutions to methodological, professional and practical problems. Can modify general and specialist knowledge when solving specific professional problems. He knows how to use his knowledge and their understanding in a way that indicates a professional approach to work, and he has competences demonstrated by making and defending arguments and solving tasks. issues of mineral deposits and the structure of earth's resources from the point of view of identification, stocks, mining, treatment, transport, trade, consumption and market. Can implement solutions to methodological, professional or practical problems and creatively use methods, tools, devices and materials The graduate understands the relationship between the availability of raw materials and energy resources and the character of human society and the dynamics of phenomena that take place in it, understands the related historical, political, economic, social and environmental aspects on a global and regional scale. The graduate knows the raw material-production, production, consumer regions and understands the individual basic flows of goods, labor and services. Has the ability to obtain and interpret relevant data in the field of study and to make ethically and socially responsible decisions based on them. The graduate should be able to work in a technological profession, which requires knowledge of energy technologies with an emphasis on alternative energy sources, in a company engaged in the extraction and processing of energy raw materials, trading in energy raw materials, or in an institution dealing with potential assessment, production analysis, management and control of obtaining energy and raw materials, including the legislative solution to the issue and the solution to the environmental side of securing energy from both renewable and non-renewable sources. Able to communicate information, concepts and principles, problems and solutions to professional as well as lay audiences. The graduate is characterized by independence in solving specific problems in a changing environment, autonomy and responsibility in decision-making, and the ability to appropriately and professionally present their own opinions.
Main learning outcomes
A graduate of the bachelor's study program Use of alternative energy sources has general knowledge at the level of synthesis from one or more areas of the use of alternative energy sources. He is able to classify knowledge from the mining of ore and non-ore raw materials, energy raw materials such as coal, oil and natural gas, geological exploration technologies, the basics of processing raw materials, waste recycling and environmental technologies for water and gas purification. He is comprehensively orientated in the issue of alternative energy sources, while the acquired knowledge has a distinctly interdisciplinary character. Characteristics of the information provision
For the development of the study program, the departments of the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) use the rich library fund of the University Library (UK), the mission of which is the information security of scientific research and the pedagogical process at TUKE. The digital library of the UK (http://www.lib.tuke.sk) is also available to TUKE students and employees, which provides: lending services; consulting services; reference services; digital services; MVS and MKVS service; education and training for writing theses. Library services are concentrated in UK TUKE, which include all activities from searching in the library fund to searching for information in the online catalog and available databases (Springer Link, Science Direct, IEEExplore, etc.), to making specific documents available in print or electronic form in the UK fund (the total number of documents is 186966, of which 64228 books, 40046 textbooks, 7779 anthologies, 6341 bound periodicals, 7718 electronic documents, 31846 final and qualification theses). Students have access to the Internet on the school premises and in the dormitories via a WiFi connection, which allows them unrestricted access to library services. The MAIS academic information system http://mais.tuke.sk/ ensures the entry, processing and provision of information about the admissions process (submission of the application, results, overviews), about the study (subject information sheets, timetable, registration for exams, results of interim and final evaluations, submission of final theses, assessments for final theses, etc.). E-learning
In addition to the classic library collection, modern electronic resources with flexibly updatable study materials of various types are available to support TUKE study programs. Both teaching materials and e-learning teaching materials (textbooks or scripts) were created. All are available in CD form or in LM systems, e.g. http://moodle.tuke.sk/. Other teaching materials are also available in the faculty LMS, or on the websites of subjects or various pedagogical projects. The CISCO Webex video conferencing system is also available for distance learning in the event of an emergency or other emergency situations at the link: https://tuke.webex.com/.
