DescriptionThe subject of study in the program is knowledge from the theory of metallurgical processes, material sciences, thermal engineering, management theory and control systems of technological processes. The graduate has in-depth technical knowledge in the field of metal production, casting, foundry, production and application of non-metallic materials, chemistry, high-temperature processes, thermal technology and metallurgical energy; controls the methods and means of organizing, managing and simulating processes; master stationary and dynamic analyzes of studied processes, assessment of thermal stress, flow, dynamics of hydromechanical and thermodynamic systems, heat and mass transfer, as well as interactions of transfer phenomena with chemical reactions. He controls the mathematical apparatus and principles necessary for the design and execution of numerical and physical simulations of metallurgical processes. It controls fuel combustion and energy conversion technologies. Controls technologies for thermal processing of materials. It controls the mathematical procedures of the solution.
Learning objectives
The graduate has in-depth technical knowledge in the field of metal production, casting, foundry, production and application of non-metallic materials, chemistry, high-temperature processes, thermal technology and metallurgical energy; controls the methods and means of organizing, managing and simulating processes; master stationary and dynamic analyzes of studied processes, assessment of thermal stress, flow, dynamics of hydromechanical and thermodynamic systems, heat and mass transfer, as well as interactions of transfer phenomena with chemical reactions. He controls the mathematical apparatus and principles necessary for the design and execution of numerical and physical simulations of metallurgical processes. It controls fuel combustion and energy conversion technologies. Controls technologies for thermal processing of materials. It controls the mathematical procedures of the solution. The graduate is able to design, solve, implement and evaluate research and development projects at the national and international level, build contacts with domestic and foreign partners in the field of industry and scientific-research cooperation, is able to independently solve demanding professional tasks aimed at effective use, development and innovation of technological processes in metallurgy and related industries, as well as or leading a team that solves such tasks. He is able to organize, manage and simulate technological processes and develop new technological procedures; in specific applications, he is able to use and further develop computer support in design, project and scientific research activities. It applies knowledge from the field of heat exchange in technological processes. Analyzes thermotechnical problems. Applies knowledge of mathematical modeling in process optimization.
Main learning outcomes
The graduate is able to plan, organize and manage the operation of individual facilities and technological units, including environmental ones; is able to create manuals, implementation of the projects and evaluation procedures for the department activities; is ready to hold higher management positions, technologist, production manager; lead and manage large projects, work in the field of research, development and technology transfer, in the field of management and quality control, as well as in the business sphere and the state sector. He achieves a high degree of knowledge of solved problems in the field of combustion, energy sources and conversion, and heat exchange, which he can logically evaluate and propose solutions. He communicates at a high technical level. He is able to coordinate a team to ensure the successful solution of a problem.

Employees of Research and Development, US Steel Košice, s.r.o., have long been providing lectures on the subjects: Modeling and optimization of processes I. and Theoretical foundations of steelmaking processes. Director of the Research-Innovation and Technology Center, n.o. - for a long time provides part of the lectures on the subject: Use of secondary raw materials and energies in the production of iron and steel. Employees of ŽP Výskumno-vývojové centrum, s.r.o. - lectures focused on the issue of steel processing and casting from the perspective of practice from the subject: Secondary metallurgy and casting of steel. The employees of OFZ, a.s. have been providing part of the lectures and exercises for a long time on the subject: Production of ferroalloys.
