Graduate profile
DescriptionA graduate of the study program has knowledge in the field of design, preparation and construction of architectural, civil engineering and water engineering structures, taking into account the wider societal, economic and environmental contexts of structural, material and technological solutions of constructions, including the technology of production of building materials and products. It develops theoretical knowledge in the field of occupational safety, environmental protection and economic efficiency of construction activity. The graduate knows various specialized software and understands the importance of virtual reality in the preparation, management and control of construction projects.
Learning objectives
Graduates can identify issues in the preparation and implementation of various types of constructions, can design ordinary constructions and apply a basic economic agenda. They acquire knowledge in the field of human resources management, business activity, law, teamwork principles and coordination of specialists from different professions within the preparation and implementation of constructions. They are able to apply basic theoretical knowledge towards a principled understanding of the issue of construction preparation and implementation and a flexible handling of organizational and technological tasks while respecting the principles of quality, occupational safety, environmental protection and economic efficiency of construction activity. The graduates of the study program will occupy positions in the construction of all types of constructions and the design of ordinary constructions. The graduates are qualified to perform all functions and activities in the preparation, implementation and renovation of all types of buildings and in the production of building materials and semi-finished products at lower levels.
Main learning outcomes
In the area of theoretical knowledge, a graduate of the study program: • demonstrates knowledge in the field of preparation and management of the construction of various types of buildings, civil engineering and water structures and the ability to process spatial, technological, time and construction site models, necessary for the implementation of constructions, • understands the principles of chemical, physical and mechanical properties of all types of building materials and can specify their use in building structures, including skills in laboratory measurements of the properties of selected building materials • can use knowledge in the area of costs and prices of buildings and construction processes • can perceive the basic aspects of the sustainable development of the construction industry and its ecosystem, in connection with the assessment of the effects of constructions on the environment. As for practical abilities and skills, a graduate of the study program: • is able to obtain and interpret the context of the design parameters of all types of buildings and analyze the requirements for project documentation, following their structural, material, economic and environmental contexts, • can interpret general legal regulations and standards related to the construction industry, general principles of prevention and requirements for ensuring occupational safety and health and environmental protection within the individual phases of construction, • is competent to process the basic production agenda and solve problems in the preparation and implementation of constructions and is able to manage and analyze data on the basic parameters of construction (resources, time, costs, safety) • has developed skills related to work with information models of buildings and virtual reality in the design, preparation and implementation of constructions. As for complementary knowledge, abilities and skills, a graduate of the study program • has the ability to work effectively as a team member or assistant to managers, • can interpret broader questions of a socio-economic and ethical nature, • can communicate in at least one world language, • developed educational skills will enable him to organize his own further education and professional development, • is able to actively interpret and apply construction business practice legislation in accordance with generally accepted moral and ethical principles, • understands the professional need for continuous further professional education.
